The Nürburgring is probably the best way for a manufacturer to prove that their car means serious business when it comes to performance. It has earned a reputation for being an extremely challenging course for both car & driver, and as a result, lap times have become a measure by which one can determine how good a car is. Get the top lap time on the Nürburgring, and your car attains a legendary status.

What I want to do here is have people post their best lap time on the Nürburgring with various cars/trucks/suvs. The cars used in producing the lap times are unmodified, and aim to be the truest representations of the real life equivalents. This way, we can re-create our own “official” Nürburgring lap times with production and race cars.

This Porsche 911 GT3 997 is designed to be a purest car, driven with no aids of any kind. Rather than trying to take the fun out of the tune by making it feel AWD, this car is setup to emulate a real 911 GT3 with a neutral balance through the turns and the ability to have slight over-steer is you try to provoke it. The resultant is a Porsche 911 GT3 tune that any true sim fan will enjoy. It is the perfect machine to have when racing in the new Forza Motorsports 3 A600 hoppers.

Setup Used:
The car as mentioned before is designed to be driven with no driver aids whatsoever. The cockpit view with wheel is how Terriblewone rolls. Additional controller testing, along with ABS was conducted by other members. Everyone was extremely happy with the results.

Tracks:
The Porsche 911 GT3 997 really comes into its own on purpose built race tracks such as Road Atlanta, Road America etc. Our teams personal favorite track to lap on is the Nurburgring GP Circuit ( Forza Motorsports 3 DLC ), those bumps really push the cars suspension to the limit.

Hello everyone and welcome to my latest review. If you remember my last review was of a FWD car well this time the power goes to the back wheels as I size up Tweaky’s latest offering, a c class Acura NSX.

This is my first ever RWD review and I will admit I’m not the best RWD driver so take my remarks with a pinch of salt and any advice on how to drive RWD is appreciated.

None the less I’ve loved all the Tweaky cars I’ve had in FM3 so let’s see if this keeps the trend going on bring it to a sudden stop…

Handling

Ok well after spending about 5 minutes deciding what event to run I chose the Acura owners meeting, original I know. The car had four tracks to impress me on and show me how to drive RWD. Now before people moan about the tracks here please note this is a handling section and please see my new section after the speed part.

First up is Motegi West. I seem to be running this track a lot now yet still cant get the last few bends right. Well the car is incredibly well balanced and carries great speed through and out of every turn. Being a RWD novice I put to much power down out of the last turn and spun it ruining my best lap. However my fastest lap of 41.117 would be good for 680th on the leaderboards. Compared to the Gearbox Clio this was .6 of a second faster.

Next up is another small track in the shape of Tsubuka short. To make this worthwhile I put traction control back on and set off on this tight twisty track. Obviously this was completely the wrong track for this car but still a Pb with a lap of 46.367 to put me 3,214th. Nothing to shout off the rooftops but still a Pb is a Pb.

Ok the third track is Iberian full reverse. Better for this car, due to its flowing bends and little need to use the brakes. I loved driving this car and was able to push it as hard as some AWD cars I’ve driven of late. The car was incredibly stable even with my driving style and it just got quicker each lap. The end result was my second Pb with a lap of 57.064.

Last up was unfortunately another smaller track in the form of Maple valley short reverse. A track I know well. The car took the bends very well and again the corner speed impressed me. The car was slightly twitchy under braking but that could be down to me and my driving style. I set my third Pb of the review with a lap time of 42.500 which put me 666th on the leaderboards.

The car had impressed me on the smaller tracks and the smaller medium length tracks so far so good.

Speed

The car is able to carry an impressive amount of speed through the turns and this helps going onto the straights. It hits a very good speed on the small straights I had tested it on and is solid whilst doing them. On the longer straights it’s very good and left me very happy (see my online section below)

I’ve had requests to add this in on my reviews. I braved the online hoppers (went for the proper ones to test out against the AWD brigade). First up was Road Atlanta full. My favourite track so I should be able to push the car to its max. In my lobby of 6 I was surrounded by 3 Celica’s, 1 mk2 golf and a Subaru impreza 04. This should be fun were my thoughts on the loading screen. Well after 4 laps of hard racing I came 3rd beating two of the Celica’s and the Golf. The car was very good and managed to eat up the ground on what was a badly tuned Celica.

Next up was Catalunya Grand prix this time I was faced with 4 Celica’s and the impreza. After being taken off on turn one by a Celica I battled my way up to a creditable 3rd again. I then got kicked from this lobby and decided that I had formed a good enough opinion on this car to review it.

Looks

It’s a replica paint that I personally like. However as it is with replicas I can see why people might not like it. The logos are well done and in picture mode this car looks very nice.

It’s another well done Tweaky paint in my opinion and I think they do some of the best replicas around the TM.

Overall

Overall I love this car. The tune is solid and the car is just so stable around whatever track I put it on. It another great Tweaky tune and I would go as far to say that it is one of the best tunes I’ve driven so far on FM3 its honestly that good so well done.

To summarise this car is a must have so go buy. NOW!

D350 2003 Mini Cooper S – Racing Legends

The British Racing Legends Mini Cooper-S was BuzzDoggs first paint in Forza Motorsports 3 under the Tweaky Tuned banner. It had been sometime since his last effort in Forza Motorsports 2 and one can quickly see Buzz is always on top of his game.

Were real proud of Buzz and this legendary paint, which stands up to the best of paints almost a year later. In terms of design and racing history. The D350 Mini Cooper S was tuned by Tweakys lead tuner Dig it909, and we all like to take this little screamer out on Mazda Laguna Seca.

This historic racing themed paint features Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, and Stirling Moss. It certainly is a pleasure to drive. The tune and paint are still located in the Tweaky Tuned storefront. So please dont miss out on one of Forza Motorsports 3’s truely classic Mini Coopers.

Forza Community Celebrity Dougyt40’s Review

First Impressions: Tweaky Tuned put out excellent Minis in Forza2, so I had high hopes for this one. The paint they have for it is excellent, and looks fantastic ingame. It does pixellate badly in the big shots though, especially in the photographs. The tune is also top notch with loads of grip, and very forgiving even without any assists on.

On The Tracks: I decided to start a race series with the C Class World Tour, but the tracks in this were not really suited to a grip tuned car as they all have long straights where a speed tune would work much better. So instead I ran a different series which started at Catalunya School Circuit. The mini worked excellently and gave me a new PB for the track with a 48.074 putting me at #200 on the leaderboards. Not great laptimes, but at a track I’m still to learn with no assists that will do nicely.

The next track on the tour was Maple Valley Short Reverse, and after bashing past the computer controlled car which got off the line much quicker I could settle in for a couple of laps to see how I could get the car to go. The answer was very well thank you, it can hold very tight lines and carry a lot of speed into the turns. The best lap was a 43.025 and can be bettered in the Mini with some more laps. That still put me at #313 on the leaderboards though, another top 500 time for me then.

Motegi East is a longer track, and although I have lapped it many times in Forza Motorsports 2 I always used the braking line. So in Forza Motorsports 3 with the line off I am finding my braking points a lot harder to hit. Still after 2 laps it was in a strong top position at #822 on the leaderboards with a 1:35.677 laptime which will improve as I get tighter with the braking margins.

Maple Valley Short I did just to see where I could get with the Tweaky Mini and managed a 42.592 laptime for another top 500 (just) at #416 on the leaderboards. A good result I felt.

The Verdict: Tweaky Tuned have done it once again with another top class Mini tune and paint. An easy to drive car which can really fly around the short to medium tracks. Also works very well without assists, although the brakes will lock up without ABS you will be pulling them hard before they do.

The only gripes I would have would be getting off the line without TCS, but the car isn’t listed as a no assists tune so that’s not really an issue, but the jump between 3rd and 4th gears seems a mite large to me and drops a bit too low in the revs for my tastes. Still an excellent drive, and for those short tracks it will get the job done with ease. Well worth the credits for paint and tune.

HLR Phoenix, the mastermind behind this VW Rabbit, also known around our camp as the ” Thunder Bunny ” was once quoted saying, ” the T Bunny just smokes everything off the launch in the online lobbies !” The Tweaky D350 VW Rabbit GTi, is an odd looking racer, strong in D Class, and sports an attractive bunny lady, armed with a handgun to boot, lol !

The Thunder Bunny has heaps of grip, lots of old school charm, and is a serious purpose built race car that takes names and asks questions later in the D Class hoppers. So dont get mad, get hopping mad and enjoy Forza Motorsports 3 in the online hoppers or punishing Season or Event Play.

Tweakys Digman took the lil beast out upon release & tore Motegi Circuit apart with an overall ranking of 48! But it was not long until Phoenix responded laying down sweet times 15th on Motegi West and around 30th on Mazda Laguna Seca. Digs also commented he got a ranking of 80th on Bugatti.

So we are very proud of both the tune and paint. Tweakys BuzzDogg painted the lil VW, and the car must be seen in game to be appreciated. Its a massive fantasy paint, that Buzz masterfully splatted on every section of the car.

So there you have it, if its a twisty technical track get the Thunder Bunny out on the tarmac to hop around and bounce you up the leaderboard.

Parts Cost: Umm… I bought and built the PBTurbo tune before recording parts costs for the Tweaky. Neither is cheap here and there is about 12K difference in parts between them.
The Story:I missed last Friday and have company in town for this Friday, so I wanted to do something a little different this week. Instead of the single review, I will be doing a head-to-head comparison of two recent D350 tunes for the VW Rabbit: PBTurbo’s TNT vs. Tweaky Tuned’s ThunderBunny. Let’s get going!

Enough of the numbers, though. Anyone can slap parts on a car and get numbers. What matters is how they drive! So how do they drive? Let me tell you…

THE REVIEW
Speed: Both cars carry some additional power mods and gearing is excellent. Based on the benchmarks, you’d likely guess that the TNT has some slight edge over the ThunderBunny. After driving both, I’d have to agree. It’s not an overwhelming edge, but the combination of weight, gearing and (probably) weaker aero lets the TNT edge ahead just a bit on striaghts.
Gearing is excellent on both cars, though I would give the edge the the TNT again. It wouldn’t be much, mind you, but I felt like I was able to use the gears better in the tracks I tested these on (yes, I actually did a test – read on!)

Handling: As is so often the case, you trade speed for handling. Where the TNT came out ahead in speed, the ThunderBunny came out ahead in handling. This time, though, the advantage seems a bit more noticeable. I want to be perfectly clear that both cars handle very well, despite what you may see below. I’m judging them against a mythological perfect.

The TNT’s settings feel like they harken back to the wisdom of FM2, which often held that you give AWD cars maximum rear ARB to tune out the understeer. Assuming that’s what happened, it didn’t quite work as planned. The TNT understeers somewhat into turns and oversteers out, but throttle will make it understeer. Some more work at the dampers and some less aggressive ARBs may make for cleaner transitions and exits. Maybe look to the diff to tune out some understeer on power, as well.

The ThunderBunny’s settings, on the other hand, are almost dead on. I get a touch of undesteer coming into corners, but very little, and it’s clean after that. Throttle on or off it retains its balance, so Tweaky Tuned did some solid work at the differential here. It’s a joy to drive and very forgiving.
Brakes are great on both offerings, but the pressures are wound just a bit too high on the ThunderBunny for my personal habits. Anyone using ABS would be hard-pressed to tell any difference. I give a nod here to the TNT for making it very easy to find the perfect braking points and maintain them.

THE LAPS
I took each car out for some hotlaps at three short tracks: Maple Valley Short, Sebring Club, and Tsukuba Full. MVS got 6 laps, while the other two got 5 each. I kept only the fastest lap. My times are kind of pitiful, so I’ll post the differences instead.

Maple Valley Short: ThunderBunny by 0.680 seconds. The long sweeper after a long straight didn’t do the TNT any favors, nor did the left turn afterward, and it spent the rest of its time catching up to the ThunderBunny. This being the first test, I was afraid of a blowout.

Sebring Club: TNT by 0.217 seconds. Blowout averted! The TNT really shines where it can stretch its legs a little and the gentle curves offered by Sebring Club did not disappoint. I know I could do better with both cars given more time, but I would expect to get even more out of the TNT. Had a couple lairy moments with the TNT here, but some more time with the car should minimize those.

Tsukuba Full: ThunderBunny by 0.378 seconds. Returning to a twistier track, the ThunderBunny regains the advantage. However, the TNT held its poise a lot better here than it did at Maple Valley Short. I’d might chalk that up to the lack of any elevation at Tsukuba or perhaps the increased number of hairpins that brought both cars down to similar speeds. Again, I can do better with both, but I’d expect the ThunderBunny to maintain a margin of victory.

THE VERDICT
Both of these tunes are great, but I have to give the nod to the ThunderBunny. The TNT will make its mark on the right tracks and excellent drivers might be able to find a better balance in the handling than I, but for most drivers and most tracks, I would go with Tweaky Tuned’s ThunderBunny. I’m happy to own both and, for a difference of @12K in parts and another 20K for the tune, you owe it to yourself to test them both out and use each where they perform best.
I give the ThunderBunny a full five star rating and a four-and-a-half star rating to the TNT. Congratulations to both garages on their work. I look forward to more (hopefully better) hotlaps with both cars in the future and expect quite a few D-class PBs from each.
